Christopher Keith Irvine (born November 9, 1970, Manhasset, New York, United States), better known by the ring name Chris Jericho, is an American-Canadian professional wrestler and singer. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest wrestlers of all time thanks to his longevity and the ability to reinvent himself over the years. Jericho became the first Undisputed Champion meaning he held both the World title and WWE title. He currently wrestles for All Elite Wrestling.
Jericho was born to Ted Irvine and Loretta Vivian Irvine in New York. His father Ted was an ice hockey player and was playing for the New York Rangers at the time of Jericho’s birth. Irvine’s interest in professional wrestling began when he started watching the local American Wrestling Association (AWA) events that took place at the Winnipeg Arena with his family, and his desire to become a professional wrestler himself began when he saw footage of Owen Hart, then appearing with Stampede Wrestling, performing various high-flying moves.
In addition, Irvine also cited Owen’s older brother Bret, Ricky Steamboat and Shawn Michaels as inspirations for his becoming a professional wrestler. His first experience with a professional wrestling promotion was when he acted as part of the ring crew for the first tour of the newly opened Keystone Wrestling Alliance promotion.

Chris Jericho joined the WWE in 1999. He interrupted The Rock and proclaimed “Raw Is Jericho” and that he had “come to save the World Wrestling Federation”, referring to himself as “Y2J.” Jericho made his in-ring debut on August 26, losing a match against Road Dogg by disqualification on the inaugural episode of SmackDown.
Jericho’s first meaningful feud in the WWE was with Chyna for the WWF Intercontinental Championship. After losing to Chyna at Survivor Series, Jericho defeated her to win his first WWF Intercontinental Championship at Armageddon.
In 2001, Jericho made history by becoming the first Undisputed Champion by defeating The Rock who was the World Champion and Stone Cold Steve Austin who was the WWF Champion on the same night at Vengeance. That win also made him the fourth Grand Slam winner under the original format.
In 2003, he feuded with Shawn Michaels who had challenged him to prove Jericho’s claims that he was better than Michaels. Their rivalry culminated in a match at WrestleMania 19 where Jericho lost to Michaels. The rivalry didn’t end there. In June 2008, a storyline started to build up with Michaels as the face and Jericho the heel. The feud culminated in a grand finale in a ladder match at the 2008 No Mercy Pay-Per-View event, with Jericho winning the bout and retaining his WWE Heavyweight Championship belt. The storyline was named the Feud of the Year by both Pro Wrestling Illustrated and the Wrestling Observer Newsletter and the No Mercy match was chosen as the Match of the Year.
Later on, in his WWE career, Jericho went to feud with Edge, CM Punk, Kevin Owens and John Cena and had many memorable matches.
