Bubba Ray Dudley in WWE

Buh Buh Ray and D-Von left ECW for the World Wrestling Federation in 1999, when the “Buh Buh” stutter-spelling of “Bubba Ray Dudley” was dropped. Throughout 2000 and 2001, the Dudley Boyz competed for the WWF Tag Team Championship with The Hardy Boyz, Edge and Christian, and Edge and Christian. The feud featured three highly regarded Tables, Ladders, and Chairs battles, the first at WrestleMania 2000, the second at SummerSlam (2000), and the third at WrestleMania X-Seven.

Driving Woman through a table

Bubba Ray was infamous for driving women through tables, including WWE Divas Terri, Mae Young, Lita, Trish Stratus, Tori, Torrie Wilson, Stacy Keibler, and Jazz, while they were initially heels. The Dudley Boyz were quickly applauded by the audience and were turned face in early 2000. Spike Dudley joined The Dudleys in the WWF in early 2001. The Dudley Boyz turned bad again in mid-2001 when they joined The Alliance, a huge stable of former ECW and World Championship Wrestling (WCW) wrestlers commanded by Shane McMahon and Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley who intended to take over the WWF.

The Dudley’s Split

Following WrestleMania X8, the WWF was rebranded “World Wrestling Entertainment” (WWE) in May 2002, and the roster was split into 2 brands: Raw and SmackDown!. When Bubba Ray was drafted to Raw and D-Von to SmackDown!, the Dudley Boyz split up. Bubba Ray had considerable success on Raw, competing for the WWE Hardcore Championship, forming a tag team with Spike, and even competing in a World Heavyweight Championship bout against Triple H.

Splitting from WWE

WWE stated on July 5, 2005, that it has decided not to pursue contract renewal discussions with the Dudley Boyz. In addition, WWE dropped fifteen additional wrestlers as a result of reduced investment due to a drop in predicted income. All three former Dudleys were sent with legal papers in August 2005, advising them not to use the (WWE trademarked) moniker “Dudley.” This caused some friction between the former Dudleys and their old employers, as they had been using the names since 1996, several years before all ECW intellectual property was acquired by WWE as a consequence of bankruptcy proceedings. Soon after, LoMonaco and Hughes (D-Von) declared their intention to file a lawsuit against WWE.

WWE Return

On the August 24, 2015 edition of Raw, Bubba and D-Von Dudley made a surprise comeback to the WWE, resurrecting their Dudley Boyz tag team identity. They assaulted the WWE Tag Team Champions, The New Day, and gave Xavier Woods a 3D through a table. The Dudley Boyz made an appearance on the Raw 25 Years broadcast on January 22, 2018, when they disrupted a battle between Heath Slater and Rhyno and Titus Worldwide (Apollo Crews and Titus O’Neil) and delivered a Dudley Death Drop to Heath Slater through a table. The Dudley Boyz were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2018.

Is Bubba Ray Dudley related to Hulk Hogan?

Brooke Hogan has claimed that her father, Hulk Hogan, the two-time WWE Hall of Famer, had granted Bubba Ray Dudley permission to date her. Bubba Ray Dudley (formerly known as Bully Ray) married Brooke Hogan in an on-screen storyline during their time together in TNA. But it didn’t work out and they had a split. As part of storyline they both started dating but soon it all got real and sometime after they broke up.

Are Bubba Ray and Devon actually brothers?

The Dudley Boyz are a tag team made up of two kayfabe half-brothers, Bubba Ray Dudley and D-Von Dudley. They are one of the top tag teams of all time. They have also won the WWE Tag Team Championship nine times. The WWE depicted them as actual brothers, but because of their differing skin tones, it was difficult for fans to believe they were brothers in real life. This is why many WWE fans already know that they are merely on-screen brothers who are just pals in real life.
