John Cena was a special guest on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast and Cena was promoting Fast X. WWE and pro wrestling fans had submitted several questions for the sixteen-time World champion John Cena. But the most interesting question that came up was regarding his most memorable feud/rivalry in his WWE career till now.

Cena’s most memorable rivalry

But the answer that all his fans thought of wasn’t any of them, the likes of Edge, Roman Reigns, and even Triple H come to mind. Maybe something like his WrestleMania rival The Rock, or his one of the most intense rivals Randy Orton?

“I did a unique piece of programming called the Firefly Funhouse match. Which was like a giant exercise in vulnerability. I worked my ass off on that thing, and I thank everyone who was involved because no one does it alone, but it was kind of my brainchild and my creation. I really wanted — you want to talk about looking in the mirror, that was kind of like a public look in the mirror. I’m glad we did it and, man, I’m glad it worked. I didn’t think anybody would get it. I kind of did it for myself, and the pandemic happened, and the events were weird. But I’m really glad that people understood it, and there are a lot of easter eggs in there too… I got to be in the nWo.” h/t Cageside Seats.

The rivalry between John and Bray Wyatt

John Cena Firefly Funhouse match was a unique and surreal wrestling encounter that took place at WrestleMania 36 on April 5, 2020. It was a cinematic match that blurred the lines between reality and fiction, featuring the legendary wrestler John Cena and the enigmatic Bray Wyatt. As Cena entered the Funhouse, he was greeted by a puppet named Mercy the Buzzard, who warned him about the darkness that lay within. The atmosphere was unsettling, with disturbing sounds and unsettling visuals creating an otherworldly setting. The tension continued to build as Cena progressed through the Funhouse, encountering various characters from Bray Wyatt’s past.

One of the most notable moments came when Cena faced off against a puppet version of himself, named “Huskus the Pig Boy.” This confrontation represented Cena’s past and his struggles with his own ego and the pressures of the wrestling industry. The puppet taunted Cena, reminding him of his failures and questioning his legacy.

Cena found himself in an empty arena, face to face with a ghostly version of himself. This representation symbolized Cena’s inner demons and the weight of his past decisions. The Fiend capitalized on this vulnerable state, delivering a Sister Abigail finishing maneuver to defeat Cena.

This match showcased the creativity and storytelling capabilities of the WWE, pushing the boundaries of what a wrestling match could be. Love it or hate it, this match will forever be remembered as a unique and daring experiment in professional wrestling.
