The Friday Night SmackDown programme was a fantastic show with a lot of unexpected things happening one after another. Charlotte Flair directly defeated Iyo Sky. After Flair won, Asuka attacked the winner. Against Butch, Dominik Mysterio won the NXT North American Championship. A fatal 4-Way Match involving Rey Mysterio, Sheamus, Cameron Grimes, and LA Knight resulted in Mysterio’s victory. Mysterio will take on Santos Escobar the following week. Mysterio and Escobar’s victor will face Austin Theory, the current US champion, in a title match. Santos Escobar defeated Austin Theory in a head-to-head match.

Highlights

The Queen attempted to gain momentum by defeating the winner of the 2023 Women’s Money in the Bank, Iyo Sky, on the same day that the match between Charlotte Flair, Bianca Belair, and Asuka for the latter’s WWE Women’s Championship was officially announced at SummerSlam. She succeeded in doing so, fighting off a spirited Goddess of the Sky and a distraction from Bayley at ringside to secure the grueling victory after Natural Selection. The winner received a message from Asuka after the bout, and she may have set the seeds for an arm injury she may take advantage of on August 5.

Regardless of an intermission occurring in the latter part of the match, it was really amazing. Additionally, it pushed two existing stories: Shotzi’s retaliation against The Role Model and the growing strife within Damage CTRL between Sky and Bayley. Both are supporting tales to the women’s title film, but they are precisely what the women’s division of the blue brand needed following the mediocre, to put it mildly, inferior creative efforts of a year ago. At SummerSlam, Flair, Asuka, and Belair are ready to wreak havoc, and their match might be a serious dark-horse contender for the greatest match on what promises to be a packed card.

The Botch

Despite having a tough fight, Flair botched a move on Iyo Sky, which led to a mismatch. The former women’s tag team champion sprang off the apron to hit her opponent with a hurricanrana when the fight spilled outside the ring. Charlotte Flair, on the other hand, appeared to mess up the move by failing to execute it neatly and jumping off herself. Although this error was caught on tape, The Queen still managed to defeat the 33-year-old singer.
