‘I Felt Dead Inside’ Says Cody Rhodes Following His Past WWE Gimmick

Cody Rhodes admitted that prior to his current success in WWE, he struggled with the ups and downs of his previous bookings, especially when he transitioned from working with Randy Orton to Stardust’s career-killing gimmick. In 2011, Cody Rhodes won his Intercontinental title for the first time in his first major run as a singles star in WWE and won most of his year with former Legacy teammate Randy Orton. We played against each other. But before he left the company in 2016, he was known to fans as Stardust, the strange ball in spandex, who hissed to crowds. After The Bell, in The American Nightmare Speaking to Corey Graves, he said he feels dead inside compared to working with Orton on Stardust.

“I don’t want to humiliate myself in front of my lover, in front of his wife,” Rhodes said. “Being Stardust before Brandy was one of the hardest things for me. It was hard. When Brandy married Cody Rhodes, he was Intercontinental his champion. He wrestled Randy Orton night after night and we totally ripped the joint out. Then I run around in this spacesuit and try to make the most of it. I was so dead.”

After winning the Men’s Royal Rumble match, Cody’s fortunes have completely changed as he plans to contest the WrestleMania 39 main event in April and the undisputed WWE Universal Title in January. Despite the fact that American Nightmare would need to end Roman Reigns’ record-breaking run to become champion at WrestleMania, some believe he’s the man to do it.

On his podcast, The Kurt Angle Show, the former Olympic gold medalist explained that he expects Cody to beat Roman on the biggest stage. “I definitely think these games are going to be really great. You know, Cody Rhodes. I expect him to win this one. I think it’s his time, and Rare Ripley wouldn’t even doubt if she won. She’s on the rise. She’s pretty strong these days. So you never know,” said Angle.

Vince made his WWE comeback in January 2023, resulting in Stephanie stepping down and Khan becoming the sole CEO of the company. Aside from a number of staff changes, the Stanford-based promotion has reportedly been put up for sale. Fox, Comcast, Amazon, Netflix, Warner Bros., Disney, and Endeavor (the head of the UFC) have all They are reportedly just a few of the companies interested in buying wrestling promotions. The former WWE CEO returned to the company last month, but fans have yet to see him. According to the company’s current CEO, that could be the case for some time. During a guest appearance on Bill Simmons’ podcast, Nick revealed that Vince’s return to WWE programming might not be for a while, though this is subject to talks between his McMahon and Levesque.
