Randy Orton and Matt Riddle (RK-Bro) lost the Raw Tag Team Championship to SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos on Friday Night SmackDown last week. The Usos became the first-ever Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions after winning the major event. Orton hasn’t been seen on WWE TV since the match eight days ago, with Riddle saying that he’s out with a “serious” back ailment. The 14-time WWE World Champion is meeting with neurosurgeons and orthopaedic spine physicians to discuss his health and the next steps, according to WWE. The update was brief, but given how serious it sounds, it doesn’t appear that Randy Orton will be appearing on WWE anytime in the foreseeable future.

No clearance for Randy Orton

It’s unclear whether Orton’s injury is a narrative or real. Some have hypothesised that the most plausible explanation is that Orton is currently injured, but not to the amount that WWE claims. Orton just signed a new agreement with WWE that includes less dates, so this appears to be a method for him to offer fans a reason why he won’t be appearing on Raw or SmackDown for a time. Despite this, Randy is expected to return to WWE before the end of July for a bout at SummerSlam against Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns. According to sources, the bout will be wedged between a Riddle vs. Reigns fight on July 2 at Money in the Bank and a Drew McIntyre vs. Reigns match on September 3 at Clash at the Castle.

Update by Matt Riddle

Riddle revealed that his RK-Bro partner has back difficulties during the most recent episode of RAW. The Viper is presently recuperating at home, and their future is uncertain, according to them. The Usos began the newest edition of SmackDown with a boast about their win last week. They noted The Apex Predator’s absence during the trailer. Michael Cole responded by saying that the former champion is visiting a spine specialist. WWE soon followed up with a tweet on their Twitter account, revealing further details about his injuries. Orton is presently receiving consultations with neurosurgeons and orthopaedic spine doctors in order to determine the best course of therapy, according to the report.
