The Miz shockingly won the WWE Championship by cashing in Drew McIntyre’s Money in the Bank briefcase in the WWE Elimination Chamber 2021. The MVP, now the owner of Money in the Bank, was seen talking to The Miz earlier in the night, and Bobby Lashley took a hard-hitting win before beating out Drew McIntyre in an unlikely chain of events. This led Miz to cash the money in the bank briefcase.

The win brings even more excitement to the still unclear WWE Championship WrestleMania photos, which have only a handful of matches booked so far. McIntyre’s biggest show opponent of the year has yet to be decided.

Raw’s Elimination Chamber was among the oldest fields in WWE history, with just two WWE Superstars under the age of 40, including 39-year-old Kofi Kingston and 35-year-old Drew McIntyre. With every Superstar in this match established, the Raw Elimination Chamber was yet another glaring reminder of WWE’s inability to create and develop new stars. Monday on Raw saw Drew McIntyre suffer a rare loss, this time to friend-turned-foe Sheamus, who is in the midst of a long-term storyline with McIntyre.

McIntyre walked into this match as a dominant 1/2 favorite, with Sheamus a distant second at 5/2 odds. An Elimination Chamber win was yet another notch on his belt as WWE continues to surge forward with the Scottish-born world champion as its top star after winning last year’s Royal Rumble and going on to defeat Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania. After taking a singles loss to Sheamus as part of a Gauntlet Match this past Monday, McIntyre’s feud with Sheamus figures to continue, while The Miz’s second WWE Championship win figures to be transitional. When the dust clears, a matchup between McIntyre and Lashley at WrestleMania is more likely than ever.

The Miz has become the new champion, but the focus of the WWE cover was on McIntyre and Lashley. All signs point to this being a short title reign, especially with WWE’s announcement Monday that the Ms & Mrs. reality show of Mizanin will return to the USA Network after WrestleMania 37. There are also opportunities to make the most of it. Music star Bud brings the title to The Miz, leading to a singles or tag match at WrestleMania. But while Mizanin looks poised to become a transitional champion, he has only one chance ahead of him.
