Bobby Lashley denies a persistent speculation regarding his debut in WWE

In addition to competing in TNA/Impact Wrestling and Strikeforce and Bellator MMA, Lashley departed WWE in 2008 to pursue an MMA career.

With a dominant and destructive wrestling style, former world champion Bobby Lashley has established himself as one of the top talents in the Stamford-based organization throughout the years. Bobby, who made his debut in the organization in 2005, had a successful first run since he held the titles of ECW Champion and United States Champion simultaneously. He was, however, released from his contract in 2008, which gave rise to accusations that he was experiencing financial difficulties as a result of the promotion.

The 46-year-old denied those persistent claims, noting that he was earning a respectable sum of money at the time, in a recent video published by RainmakerNYC. He said, “No, that’s 100 percent not true. I was making a tremendous amount of money then.”

He continued by elaborating on how leaving WWE had given him the confidence to try his luck in MMA. He continued saying “It was an opportunity for me to go fight and legitimize my character a little bit. So I fought for eight years under [Scott] Coker and Bellator and Strikeforce and everything else, and now coming back … I take all that with me to kinda legitimize my character a little bit.” (h/t WrestlingInc)

At Crown Jewel, Bobby Lashley will go on to face Brock Lesnar

Thinking of wrestlers with destructive styles, Lashley will face the Beast Incarnate in a singles match at WWE Crown Jewel. After Roman Reigns defeated him at SummerSlam, Brock recently returned to the promotion and intended to humiliate the former US Champion. When Bobby challenged him to spear him twice—once through the barrier and once on the announce table—on the next RAW broadcast, the feud grew more heated. Now everything is set up for a massive showdown between the two powerhouses at WWE’s forthcoming high-end live event.
