Sunday will see Serbia take on Slovenia in the preliminary round of the CEV Women’s European Volleyball 2023. Heading into Sunday’s match, Serbia is coming after thrashing Ukraine (3-0). On the other hand, Slovenia is coming after getting hammered by Belgium(1-3). Let us see who has the last laugh on Saturday. It will be interesting to watch whether the Serbians are able to maintain their winning streak on Sunday.
The drawing of lots was combined with a seeding of National Federations and performed. The four organizers of the tournament were seeded in the Preliminary pools. However, the finalists from the previous edition were drawn into different Preliminary pools. This ensured that the top teams will be separated from competing in the same groups. The organizers could select one team to join their pools. On the other hand, the 16 remaining teams were seeded in descending order in the number of cups which equals the number of Preliminary pools. The pointing system of the Women’s Euro Volleyball 2023 is a little different. For a 3-0 or 3-1 win the winner gets 3 points while the loser gets 0 points. However, in case of a 3-2 win, the winner will get 2 points while the loser will get 1 point. This has ensured an equitable distribution of points.
