The Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship 2023 is set to commence on August 19th in Urmia, Iran and will run until August 26th of the same year. Fans of volleyball can catch all the exciting live action at two distinct venues in Urmia – the Ghadir Arena and the Shahidan Ahandoust Hall. Organized under the umbrella of the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) and in collaboration with the Islamic Republic of Iran Volleyball Federation (IRIVF), this championship is entering its 22nd edition. This premier tournament brings together senior men’s teams from various member nations of the AVC.
Out of the 17 nations, 12 teams will play in the knockout stage games, including Iran, Pakistan, China, India, South Korea, Indonesia, Japan, Bahrain, Chinese Taipei, Iraq, Qatar and Thailand. Considering Iran and Japan are the first and second-seeded teams in the competition, both teams and the opponents playing them in the final 12 stage will have the opportunity to qualify directly for the semi-finals and not compete in the quarter-final phase.
On August 23, 2023, Qatar will take on Thailand in a Round of 12 match at the Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship 2023. Qatar made the stage after topping the Pool E with two wins in two games. On the other hand, Thailand reached the Round of 12 stage after they finished in Pool B, winning one and lose one match.
