The FIVB Women’s Volleyball Nations League 2023, which is the fifth edition of the league, began on May 30 and will conclude on July 16, 2023. The final leg of the tournament is scheduled from July 12 to July 16, 2023. Eight nations, including the hosts United States, along with Poland, Turkey, China, Brazil, Italy, Japan, and Germany, have made it to the quarterfinals of the FIVB Women’s Nations League 2023. The United States, Turkey, and Brazil stand out, having made it to the final stage in each of the previous five competitions. Germany will make its inaugural appearance in the final phase, whereas the rest have all had at least one final eight appearance.
The first quarterfinal of the FIVB Women’s Volleyball Nations League 2023 will be a fierce contest between Poland and Germany. Poland held the top spot in the preliminary round leaderboard with ten victories from twelve matches played over three weeks. Germany claimed the eighth position, backed by seven victories, the majority of which they secured in the first two weeks. Making its second VNL knockout appearance after 2019, Poland aims to surpass its best finish of fifth place from the same year. Meanwhile, Germany, under the guidance of Vital Heynen, is making its first appearance in the final 8, after ending up in the 10th spot in 2019, 2021, and 2022.
