The 2023 Women’s European Volleyball Championship will be the 33rd edition of the Women’s European Volleyball Championship, organised by Europe’s governing volleyball body. the Confédération Européenne de Volleyball. For the third consecutive time, it will be held in four countries: Belgium, Estonia, Germany and Italy.
Sunday will see the Netherlands take on Estonia in the preliminary round of the CEV Women’s European Volleyball 2023. Heading into Sunday’s match, the Netherlands is coming after thrashing Slovakia (3-0). On the other hand, Estonia is coming with a loss in a nail-biting game against Finland(2-3). Let us see who has the last laugh on Saturday. The Dutch are one of the powerhouses of European volleyball. However, on Sunday they will be up against a fearful Estonian side which can turn things a little bit tipsy turvy for the Oranje women.
The drawing of lots was combined with a seeding of National Federations and performed. The four organizers of the tournament were seeded in the Preliminary pools. However, the finalists from the previous edition were drawn into different Preliminary pools. This ensured that the top teams will be separated from competing in the same groups. The organizers could select one team to join their pools. On the other hand, the 16 remaining teams were seeded in descending order in the number of cups which equals the number of Preliminary pools. The pointing system of the Women’s Euro Volleyball 2023 is a little different. For a 3-0 or 3-1 win the winner gets 3 points while the loser gets 0 points. However, in case of a 3-2 win, the winner will get 2 points while the loser will get 1 point. This has ensured an equitable distribution of points.
