The Netherlands will begin their Phase 2 of the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship 2022 when they take on Argentina. The Tuesday night clash will see two sides that have been going through a mixed run of form in the competition taking on each other. While the home advantage might favour the Dutch side, their inconsistency might be a cause for concern. The Women’s World Championship 2022 is hosted in the Netherlands and Poland this year. The tournament began on 23rd September and will end on 15th October. 

Both sides have struggled for consistency in their respective groups during Phase 1. Placed in Pool A, the Netherlands had to play some heavyweights like Italy and Belgium among others. The co-hosts rode on the home support to finish third in their group by securing nine points from five games, having won three and lost two. On the other hand, Argentina struggled for consistency big time in Pool D. The South American team could only manage five points from the same number of matches. They won twice and lost three times in Phase 1.

FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship 2022 Volleyball Format

The 24-team tournament will run from September 23 through October 15. The teams are split up into four groups of six teams each, and they compete in a round-robin format. Each pool’s top four teams advance to the second round and the 16 teams are divided into two pools of eight nations. The countries coming from the same first-round pool only play against opponents from a different first-round pool. Each pool’s top four teams compete in a quarterfinal round, with the winners moving on to the semifinals. The World Championship trophy will be up for grabs for the last-four victorious teams, while the third-place match pits the losers against each other.
