Italy will be keen to maintain their winning run in the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship 2022 when they take on Brazil. The Tuesday clash between these two teams in Phase 2 will be an intriguing affair for various reasons. Placed in Pool A, Italy were unstoppable throughout Phase 1. The Europeans won all five matches they played in their group to accumulate a total of 15 points. Three of their five victories came by a 3-0 scoreline. On the other hand, Brazil also came up with a good showing in Pool D. The South American country won four of their five games to finish third in their group with 12 points. Brazil are heading into this contest on the back of a stunning 3-1 victory over their group leaders China.

FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship 2022 Volleyball Format

The 24-team tournament will run from September 23 through October 15. The teams are split up into four groups of six teams each, and they compete in a round-robin format. Each pool’s top four teams advance to the second round and the 16 teams are divided into two pools of eight nations. The countries coming from the same first-round pool only play against opponents from a different first-round pool. Each pool’s top four teams compete in a quarterfinal round, with the winners moving on to the semifinals. The World Championship trophy will be up for grabs for the last-four victorious teams, while the third-place match pits the losers against each other.
