Iran and Brazil will be going head-to-head in the FIVB Volleyball Men’s Nations League with the intention of climbing out of the mid-table positions they find themselves currently. Both teams are not far away from each other in the standings, however, they are off the pace from the top sides in the table. Brazil and Iran are ninth and eleventh respectively in the table, having managed six points each from five games. Hence, the round one clash on Friday provides them with the opportunity to climb up the table.
Both these teams started the competition on a positive note. Iran won two of the first three games, while Brazil won both their openers. Iran had defeated China and Australia by the same margin of 3-1. Meanwhile, Brazil got the better of Australia 3-0 and Slovenia 3-1 in the opening two fixtures. Since then, both teams are yet to win a game. As a result, Iran and Brazil will be keen to get on a winning run when they face each other on Friday to move higher up the table.

A fresh new format was enforced for the FIVB Volleyball Men’s Nations League ahead of the 2022 edition. The revised format will feature 16 men’s teams who will compete in pools of 8 teams during the preliminary round. Eight teams will then advance to the competition’s final knockout round. The Finals will include the seven strongest teams, with the finals host — Italy — entering the knockout round as the top-placed team. It will consist of eight matches in total – four quarterfinals, two semi-finals, and bronze and gold medal matches.
