The 2023 FIVB Volleyball Men’s Nations League will be the fifth edition of the FIVB Volleyball Men’s Nations League. It is an annual men’s international volleyball tournament. The competition will be held during the months of June and July. The final round will take place in Ergo Arena, Gdańsk, Poland. However, the entire format and the final roster of the countries taking part remain the same. However, there are some minor changes to the final list of participants. Following the results of the 2022 Nations League and 2022 Challenger Cup, Australia were replaced by debutants Cuba in this edition.

Sunday will see Bulgaria take on Cuba. Both the team languish at the bottom of the table. Cuba is in the fifteenth position. While Bulgaria is in the thirteenth position. Bulgaria and Cuba last faced in the World Championships of 2018 which is usually held after the FIVB Nations League. In the previous encounter, the Bulgarians thrashed the Cubans in straight sets to take the game 3-. However, this time it has come down to survival for both teams and improving their current standings. Cuba is coming into the match after suffering back-to-back defeats at the hands of France and Slovenia. While Bulgaria has failed to win against Brazil, Argentina and Canada in round 2. Sunday’s game will be crucial for both these teams.

What is the format of the 2023 FIVB Volleyball Men’s Nations League?

The format of the play is the same as the previous edition. According to that, 16 men’s teams will compete in pools of 8 during the pool phase. Each team plays 12 matches during the pool stage. Eight teams will then move into the final knockout phase of the competition. The finals will have these 8 teams move directly to the knockout stage. The knockout phase will then comprise 8 matches: four quarterfinals, two semi-finals and the bronze and gold medal matches.

The first-ranked team will play a quarterfinal match against the eighth-ranked team, the second-ranked team will play a quarterfinal match against the seventh-ranked team, the third-ranked team will play a quarterfinal match against the sixth-ranked team, the fourth-ranked team will play a quarterfinal match against the fifth-ranked team.
