Dustin Poirier was not going to be let go after making fun of Michael Chandler. Michael Johnson faced Alan Patrick in a one-on-one match at UFC Vegas 54. This was a significant battle for Johnson since he was on a four-bout losing streak and another defeat may have resulted in walking papers. “The Menace” was able to rewind time and rescue his job. He defeated Patrick in the second round, his first victory since October 2018. It was also his first finish since September of last year. That 2016 knockout came at the cost of Dustin Poirier. Before UFC Vegas 54, “The Diamond” mocked Michael Chandler by referring to him as “Michael Chinler.” Chandler retaliated following Johnson’s victory over Patrick.

Michael Chandler took it to social media

Chandler tagging Poirier wrote, “Speaking of Michaels & chins. Congrats to Michael Johnson on his KO tonight. 1st KO since Sept. 17, 2016 – UFC Fight Night: Poirier vs Johnson. Clean KO at 1:35 of the 1st rd in Hidalgo, TX. Michael earned a Performance of the Night Bonus. #chinhistory #ufcvegas54

Michael Chandler on an amazing run

Chandler recently defeated Tony Ferguson with a spectacular front-kick knockout. This is his second victory in the UFC. He received his second “Performance of the Night” bonus for finishing first. Poirier hasn’t competed since December 2021. Oliveira submitted him in an unsuccessful effort for the UFC Lightweight Championship. Poirier was defeated for the second time in a UFC world title bout. Time will tell if these two are headed for a crash. While Chandler has advocated for a fight with Conor McGregor, no one knows when the “Notorious” one will be ready to fight again. Poirier has hinted that he will face Colby Covington on July 30. It’ll be fascinating to watch whether that grudge fight materializes.
