While Conor McGregor’s relationship with the UFC hasn’t always been pleasant, “The Notorious” doesn’t appear to be on Tony Ferguson’s side. Ferguson made headlines at his UFC 274 media day visit on Wednesday, just days before his lightweight bout with Michael Chandler. “El Cucuy” used the occasion to express his frustrations against the UFC and its president, Dana White, in some respects calling them as “drug dealers.”

Conor McGregor on Ferguson

McGregor turned to social media a day later to respond to Ferguson’s remarks, but the post was eventually removed.

It said, “Tony Ferguson, who changes representation around 4 times a year, is saying it’s someone else fault he is in the position he is in. How many bridges do you burn before you look yourself in the mirror and say “maybe it’s me that’s the issue”
“God bless you pal, I’ll say a prayer.”

Umberella Management

Conor McGregor and Tony Ferguson were once under the same management umbrella, although the latter is no longer the case. Due to the bout between Ferguson and Chandler, as well as the main event between Charles Oliveira and Justin Gaethje for the 155-pound title, McGregor will most certainly be watching Saturday’s show at the Footprint Center in Phoenix.

Tony Ferguson vs Michael Chandler

Ferguson and Chandler are both going through a difficult time in their jobs. El Cucuy has lost three straight bouts, including a UFC 249 match with Gaethje for the interim lightweight title. Prior to this losing run, he had won 12 consecutive bouts. During his Bellator career, Michael Chandler was 18-5 and won the lightweight title three fights. Chandler has lost back-to-back fights against Oliveira for the vacant lightweight championship and Gaethje after defeating Dan Hooker in his UFC debut.
