Italian tennis sensation Jannik Sinner had to overcome a tough test against Christopher Eubanks in the second round of the 2022 US Open and will now face another American in Brandon Nakashima. Against Eubanks, Sinner hit 12 aces and recorded four out of 12 break points to win the match 6-4, 7-6 (10-8), 6-2 after two hours and 24 minutes. It has been a good year for the Italian when it comes to Grand Slam competitions. He has made it through to the third round of US Open, and he had made it into the quarter-finals of the Australian Open and Wimbledon and the fourth round of the French Open. In the fourth and final Grand Slam of the year, the Italian will be hoping to go the distance and win the crown against all odds.
Brandon Nakashima was in exceptional form on Friday as he beat former world no. 3 Grigor Dimitrov 7-6 (7-5), 7-5, 6-3 in the second round. The young American tennis player recorded 12 aces and converted two out of 10 break points to earn what is being considered a shock victory. Nakashima will face Sinner for the first time in his career with home support backing him to make another upset at the hard-court Grand Slam.
Jannik Sinner and Brandon Nakashima are scheduled to face each other on Sunday, September 4 in the third round of the 2022 US Open. The fourth and final Grand Slam of the season began on August 29 and will go on until September 11.
