Camilo Carabelli entered this competition having only ever triumphed in one match at the top level, but after defeating Daniel Elahi Galan in straight sets, he doubled that total. Lajovic, though, put an end to that by defeating Carabelli 6-3, 6-1. Remarkably, Lajovic needed an hour and 41 minutes to prevail despite the lopsided size of the victory and the fact that he wasn’t broken once throughout the contest. Contrarily, Lajovic defeated Carabelli’s serve four times during the contest. Lajovic, who had previously advanced to the second round of the Cordoba Open last, earned a spot in this competition after defeating Renzo Olivo and Felipe Meligeni Rodrigues Alves in straight sets. The Serb then defeated Carabelli with ease after defeating the winner of Cordoba, Sebastian Baez, in the opening round. Can he now produce his biggest career result?

Alcaraz had to battle through three sets and just over two hours before defeating Laslo Djere in the second round. After receiving a bye in the first round, Alcaraz had to hold off a comeback by Djere in the second set of his round of 16 match to win 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 and move on to the quarterfinals. In the game, Carlos Alcaraz did encounter seven breakpoints, but he avoided all but one of them. Unfortunately for him, he failed to capitalise on any of the eight break-point opportunities in the second set, which allowed Djere to win the set by breaking his service once, in the set’s tenth game. As soon as the third set began, with the score tied at one set apiece, Alcaraz broke Djere, and he added another break in the seventh game. And it was over, quickly. To advance to the semifinals, he must now defeat another Serb.
