Rajasthan Royals on Friday landed in a hot soup as their tweet on prolific batter Sanju Samson backfired at them. In a now-deleted tweet, the Rajasthan Royals social media shared an edited picture of Samson sitting in the team bus with a caption, ‘Kya khoob lagte ho…’ and a laughing emoji.

The tweet did not go down well with the Rajasthan Royals captain as he retweeted it and said, “Its ok for friends to do all this but teams should be professional. @rajasthanroyals,” wrote Samson in response.

Samson was supported by his new franchise teammate and veteran India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin who also called for ‘change’.

Rajasthan Royals’ statement on the issue

The Rajasthan Royals social media team seemingly faced such a situation for the first time. They are known to produce engaging contents which are liked by the social media users. However, the franchise, clarified in a statement that it will be making changes to their approach and team on social media.

“In light of today’s events, we will be making changes to our approach and team on social media. Everything is well within the squad ahead of the first game as the boys prepare for SRH. The management will revisit our overall digital strategy and appoint a new team in due course,” Rajasthan Royals said in an official statement.

“We realise that it is the IPL season and fans want the account to post updates regularly. We will find temporary solutions in the interim,” the statement added.
