Gujarat Titans captain Hardik Pandya became the fastest Indian player to hit 100 sixes in the Indian Premier League (IPL) history during their clash against SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Mumbai on Monday.
The India all-rounder recorded his 100th maximum after knocking Aiden Markram for a massive six over the mid-wicket region. He took 1046 deliveries to reach the milestone and become the fastest Indian ahead of his compatriot and Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant (1224 balls) and former India all-rounder Yusuf Pathan (1313 deliveries).
Overall, Pandya became the third fastest to achieve this feat following the West Indies’ swashbuckling all-rounders Andre Russel (657 balls) and Chris Gayle (943) balls.

Pandya bursted onto the scene in 2016 as a genuine all-rounder for Team India. Throughout 2017 and 2018, he rose through the ranks due to his all-round efficiency, and made himself an undetachable part of the limited-overs over format besides earning a place in the Test set up.
However, in 2019, a lower-back injury stood as a hurdle in his career. He underwent a surgery in the United Kingdom and was treated under the same doctor who treated him during India’s tour of England in 2018 and the 2019 World Cup.
But one can start to believe that Pandya is in the process of making a Team India comeback, having made his last international appearance in November 2021, as he continues to run through his four overs for Gujarat Titans’ and also hits 140 kph on the speed clock.
In fact, it can be said that, the captaincy responsibility has made him a matured cricketers and he is making sure that the national selectors take notice of it.
