IPL 2022: Rishabh Pant becomes third IPL captain to be fined for slow over rate

Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant became the third IPL 2022 captain for maintaining a slow over rate. Pant was fined INR 12 lakh for maintaining slow over rate in the IPL 2022 clash against Lucknow Super Giants at the DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai on April 7. 

“The Delhi Capitals have been fined after they maintained a slow over rate during their TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 match against Lucknow Super Giants at the DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai on April 7,” an official statement said. 

“As it was the team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over rate offences, Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant was fined Rs 12 lakhs,” the statement added. 

In the match, Quinton de Kock (80) notched up a brilliant half-century to guide LSG to a convincing six-wicket victory as they chased down the modest target of 150 runs with two balls to spare against DC.

It was the second loss for the Pant-led side as they find themselves on the seventh spot in the 10-team IPL 2022.

IPL 2022: Which captains were fined earlier for slow over-rate?

SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain Kane Williamson was earlier fined for maintaining slow over rate in the IPL 2022 clash against Rajasthan Royals at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune on March 29. 

“As it was the team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over rate offences, Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Kane Williamson was fined Rs 12 lakhs,” an official statement said. 

Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma was fined INR 12 lakh for maintaining slow over rate in the IPL 2022 fixture against Delhi Capitals at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.

Mumbai Indians lost the match by four-wicket, adding to their losing run in the opening IPL contest, since 2013.

Under the IPL code of conduct, the Mumbai Indians captain was fined, as it was the first-time offence for the franchise in the ongoing season.

“The Mumbai Indians have been fined after they maintained a slow over rate during their TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 match against Delhi Capitals at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai on March 27,” an official media statement said.

“As it was the team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over rate offences, Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma was fined Rs 12 lakhs,” the statement added.
