Quinton de Kock (80) notched up a brilliant half-century to guide LSG to a convincing six-wicket victory as they chased down the modest target of 150 runs with two balls to spare against DC in the IPL 2022 at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Mumbai on Thursday.

In the chase, LSG openers de Kock and captain KL Rahul (24), forged a 73-run stand for the opening wicket to get their side to a strong start. Rahul played a cautious knock off 25 deliveries to hit one four and a six.

The South Africa wicket keeper-batter, however, continued to keep the asking rate in control with his brilliant cameo but failed to get enough support from his partner Evin Lewis (5).

Later, Deepak Hooda (11) and Krunal Pandya (19 not out), struggled to keep the scoreboard ticking but young dasher Ayush Badoni notched up an unbeaten knock off 10 runs off three deliveries, laced with a four and one six, to take his side over the line.

For the capital franchise, wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav, was the pick of the bowlers as he returned figures of 2/31.

Rishabh Pant and Sarfaraz Ahmed play late cameos

Earlier, Ravi Bishnoi and Krishnappa Gowtham bowled disciplined spells for LSG to restrict DC to a modest 149/3.

Asked to bat, Prithvi Shaw (61), played some fearless shots to notch up a brilliant half-century. He was the aggressor and scored most of the runs in the opening stand of 67-run with Australia opener David Warner (4). His 34-ball knock was laced with nine boundaries and two hits over the fence.

Warner, who played his first match in IPL 2022, looked out of touch while his West Indies’ compatriot Rovman Powell (3) was also deceived for turn with a brilliant googly from Bishnoi.

However, unperturbed by the dismissals, captain Rishabh Pant (39 not out) and Sarfaraz Khan (36 not out) played important cameos late in the game but failed to get their side to a challenging total.

Pant struggled in front of spin early on as he hit three boundaries and two sixes in his 36-ball knock while Khan smashed three fours in 28-ball knock.

Ravi Bishnoi, Krishnappa Gowtham on the money for LSG

Leg-spinner Bishno was the pick of the bowlers for LSG as he returned figures of 2/22 while Gowtham was brilliant in his four over spells and restricted the flow of runs to record match figures of 1/23.
