Ace-presenter Mayanti Langer made a stunning comeback to IPL after more than two years in the inaugural contest of the ongoing season between defending champions CSK and KKR at the Wankhede Stadium on Saturday. Langer returned to the fore after overlooking family responsibilities following the birth of her first child with husband and former India cricketer Stuart Binny.
Langer made her IPL return inside the set of official broadcaster Star Sports. She was accompanied by former India head coach Ravi Shastri who will also be seen in a commentary role for the Hindi broadcast channel this season.
Star Sports had earlier hinted on the return of Langer with IPL. Her surprising leave from the IPL from the 2020 edition had come as a surprise to most fans.
The 37-year-old, however, had clarified her stance via a tweet.
“Quite a few of you have reached out and many are speculating. For the past five years, my family at Star Sports has given me the incredible privilege of fronting their most high-profile events. In fact, they supported me when I needed them the most. When I was pregnant with my son. They made several adjustments to ensure that I was comfortable hosting till I was 20 weeks/five months pregnant. I would have continued so had IPL 2020 gone on as scheduled. Stuart and I were blessed by the birth of our baby boy six weeks ago. Life has changed for the better,” she tweeted in her explanation in 2020.
