The Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) has noted that an IPL 2022 promo advertisement, featuring former India and CSK captain MS Dhoni as a bus driver, has glorified violating traffic rules and asked to withdraw it at the earliest.

The council asked the promo ad to be withdrawn after a road safety organisation lodged an official complaint, according to a report in the Times of India.

IPL 2022 promo: Consumer Unity and Trust Society lodges complaint

The complaint was filed by the Consumer Unity and Trust Society (CUTS). The advertisement shows MS Dhoni, acting as the bus driver, stopping the bus in the middle of a working street. Later, a traffic policeman is seen arriving at the situation to take control of it.

However, the bus driver responds, by saying that they were engrossed to a ‘Super Over’ of an IPL match and the traffic policeman treats it as a normal occurrence during the cricketing festival of India and walks away.

The Consumer Complaints Committee (CCC) took note of the advertisement and watched it with the representatives of the company who made the promo.

The ASCI has asked the handling party to withdraw or modify it by the deadline of April 20.
The company, has meanwhile, accepted the sanctions and willing to withdraw it.
