Five-time champions Mumbai Indians find themselves in hot soup after losing five matches on the trot before taking on Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL 2022 fixture on Saturday.

The new-look Mumbai Indians, assembled at the IPL mega auction, after the retention of captain Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Kieron Pollard and Suryakumar Yadav look like a side who are still trying to figure out their best XI with plenty of youngsters in their squad.

The squad has largely relied on young talents like Dewald Brevis, Basil Thampi, N Tilak Varma, Daniel Sams and Tim David while England pace ace Jofra Archer has added to their woes by missing out due to an injury.

And in the crisis-hit situation, young medium pacer Arjun Tendulkar was spotted sitting along with his father and cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, in the dugout during the clash against LSG.

His glimpse caused a Twitter trend as fans urged Mumbai Indians to give Arjun Tendulkar his debut.

Arjun Tendulkar: A look at his career

The all-rounder made his India U-19 debut against Sri Lanka in 2018. He made his Twenty20 debut on 15 January 2021, for Mumbai in the 2020–21 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy against Haryana. He picked up one wicket for 34 runs from three overs in that match.

Tendulkar was the net bowler for Team India during their tour to England in 2018. He bowled against the likes of MS Dhoni, Kohli, KL Rahul, Shikhar Dhawan and many others during that time while also practicing with the India women’s team in the same role.

He was first bought by Mumbai Indians ahead of the auction in IPL 2021. But an injury saw him being ruled out of the lucrative tournament before he was bought by the franchise again during the IPL mega auction.
