Ravindra Jadeja has been an outstanding cricketer: Ravi Shastri

Shastri hailed Jadeja as an outstanding cricketer for his services to the game. He highlighted that the Rajkot player has shown sheer focus in his abilities and grown over the years to become a top all-rounder.

“He has been an outstanding cricketer for India. No. 1 in the world rankings when it comes to being an all-rounder. I have seen him evolve over the last 5 years and, in particular, the last 3 years,” Shastri further said.

“The way he is focussed on his batting. The time he has spent at the nets, the self-belief he has brought into the game. Apart from being an outstanding fielder and doing the job with the ball, I think he is a livewire in the team.

“He is very energetic, he is very positive and I am most happy to see he is back from a knee injury.”

Under Jadeja, CSK will enter a new cycle, after Dhoni led them to 204 IPL matches and won four-IPL titles. The all-rounder will also continue to be mentored by Dhoni in his role throughout the season and understand the various dimensions of captaincy better.

The first glimpse of Jadeja’s captaincy style and tactics will be visible in the IPL 2022 opener on Saturday.
