Indian field hockey player Jugraj Singh was born on December 11, 1996. He now plays defense for the Indian national team. Jugraj Singh, a left fullback for the Punjab Police team in Jalandhar, attended the Surjeet Singh Hockey Academy in Jalandhar and the Air India Hockey Academy in Delhi. He made his debut for his country at the 2001 under-18 Asia Cup in Ipoh. Jugraj Singh was not the only member of his family to play field hockey: his brother-in-law Gurmail Singh was a member of the 1980 Olympic team, and his older sister Rajbeer Kaur Rai is a former India captain and Arjuna Award winner. The former Punjab policeman was a self-taught drag-flicker defender who was later hired as a coach. He was born in 1983 into a Sikh household in Punjab.
