Krishan Bahadur Pathak, who was born on April 24, 1997 in Kapurthala, Punjab, has been actively playing Indian hockey since 2016 and is the current goalkeeper for the Indian hockey team. He participated in the 2018 Asian Games, where India won the bronze medal, earning him several accolades. Krishan had a difficult life and through challenges that could have broken anyone. The hardest time in his life came in 2016, just two days before leaving for his maiden international debut to launch his career and three months after he had celebrated his birthday. His father had died of a heart attack. However, Krishan claims that because of all the hardships he had to endure over the years, this particular moment was not as painful as it would have been had he not endured so many. The Punjab Government had promised in 2016 to pay Rs 25 lacs to 10 players who were instrumental in India winning the 2016 Junior Hockey World Cup, but the wait is still ongoing because the Government has still not given the amount, and Krishan wants to use it to construct his own residence. As a result, Krishan lives in a rented apartment in Punjab with his uncle.
When Pr Sreejesh was rested for the competition, Krishan was preferred as the first choice goalkeeper for the national team, marking his senior team debut in 2018. He participated as a reserve goalie in the 2018 Men’s Hockey Champion’s Trophy, where India won the silver medal. He competed for India in the 2018 Asian Games, where his country’s team put on an amazing performance, winning 69 medals in total. When the team was invited to represent India in senior hockey in New Zealand in January 2018, he made his senior team debut. Additionally, he was chosen as the team’s starting goalkeeper because P.R. Sreejesh was resting. In the Men’s Hockey Champions Trophy in 2018, Krishan played as a reserve goalkeeper wherein India won the silver medal. Krishan was also the reserve goalkeeper in the 2018, Asian Games and India showed the best performance winning 69 medals in total.

His father, Tek Bahadur, a crane operator, insisted that Krishan Bahadur Pathak enrol in the Surjit Hockey Academy in Jalandhar even though he had no interest in sports. His family originally came from a village in Nepal and moved to Punjab in 1990. 2018 saw Pathak make his international debut for India in a four-team invitational competition held in New Zealand.
