Mohammed Siraj, following his outstanding performance in the Asia Cup final, has reclaimed the No. 1 spot in the ODI bowling rankings. This marks the second time Siraj has reached the summit, with his previous reign occurring between January and March 2023 before Josh Hazlewood took over. Siraj’s remarkable display in the Asia Cup, where he secured ten wickets with an impressive average of 12.20, propelled him eight places to the top of the rankings. His standout moment was a spell of 6 for 21 that demolished Sri Lanka, leading to their dismissal for a mere 50 runs in the final. This exceptional performance included a four-wicket over, a feat achieved only three times in men’s ODI history.

The Asia Cup also influenced the rankings for Afghanistan’s spinners, with Mujeeb Ur Rahman securing the fourth spot and Rashid Khan taking the fifth position. Both players contributed with two wickets each during the group stage. The top five ODI bowlers now comprise Hazlewood in second place and Trent Boult in third. Kuldeep Yadav, who claimed nine wickets in the Asia Cup at an average of 11.44, has fallen from sixth to ninth place in the rankings.
