Aditi Ashok emerged victorious in the competition with a 12-under 280 with scores of 67, 70, 69, and 74 in the four rounds respectively.
Aditi Ashok of India won her fourth Ladies European Tour title in the Kenya Ladies Open 2023 golf tournament in Vipingo Ridge, Kenya on February 5, 2023. Aditi emerged victorious in the competition with a 12-under 280 with scores of 67, 70, 69, and 74 in the four rounds respectively. She finished ahead of England’s Alice Hewson and Thailand’s April Angurasaranee, who both finished with three-under 289. Aditi led Angurasaranee by six strokes entering the fourth and final day of the golf competition. However, Angurasaranee finished in a tie for second place with Alice Hewson after making a double-bogey and three more bogeys on the back nine.
Meanwhile, Aditi Ashok, 24, remained consistent throughout all the four rounds. Her 6-under 67 in the opening round of the competition, which also featured an eagle and five birdies, gave her a commanding lead the entire time. After a bogey-free third round on Saturday, the Indian golfer secured her place at the top of the scoreboard. In spite of two bogeys on the back nine on the last day of the competition, the Bengaluru-born athlete comfortably claimed the title. The other Indian golfers featuring, Avani Prashanth and Amandeep Drall finished tied-ninth and tied-52nd respectively. While Avani tied for ninth place with a score of 3-over 295 (75-75-73-72) and Amandeep tied for 52nd place with a score of 16-over (74-74-83-77).
This was Aditi’s fourth title on the Ladies European Tour (LET) since winning the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Open in Abu Dhabi, UAE in 2017. Aditi became a professional in 2016. She became the first Indian to win a LET golf championship in the same year by winning the Women’s India Open with a final score of 3-under par 213. She won her second title two weeks later in the Qatar Ladies Open, finishing second on the Order of Merit. Aditi was crowned Rookie of the Year in 2016. She is a two-time Olympian, having represented India in Rio and Tokyo Olympics. She narrowly missed out on a medal at Tokyo 2020 by finishing fourth.
