Wycombe have recorded six league-wins this term and their last success came away to Fleetwood Town (4-1) on October 7, thanks to Dale Taylor’s brace and one goal each from Freddie Potts and Luke Leahy. But since then, the Chairboys went winless in their next three league games, sharing the points against Peterborough United and Oxford United, either side of a 4-2 defeat against Bolton Wanderers. On Saturday Oxford took the lead through Ruben Rodrigues’ 25th-minute opener, before the Blues took a 2-1 lead thanks to Luke Leahy’s second-half brace from the penalty spot. Just when it looked like Matt Bloomfield’s side would take all three points at Kassam Stadium, Cameron Brannagan scored a 96th-minute equaliser from the penalty spot and denied the visitors a third away-win in the third tier this season.
As for Cambridge, they will head into Tuesday’s fixture in a positive mood after defeating Carlisle on Saturday and claiming their first win since September 4. George Thomas’ lone goal 17 minutes from time helped the U’s secure all three points against the Blues and end their 10-game winless run in all competitions. As a result of their fourth third tier win of the campaign, Mark Bonner’s side moved four points clear of the drop zone. Although Bonner’s men have won just one away game this term, they can draw inspiration from the 3-2 victory that they recorded in last season’s away meeting with Wycombe.
Wycombe Wanderers probable starting lineup: Stryjek, Keogh, Low, Leahy, Pattenden, Scowen, Potts, Boyes, Phillips, Taylor, Hanlan
Cambridge United probable starting lineup: Stevens, L. Bennett, R. Bennett, Morrison, Andrew, Thomas, Cousins, Digby, Brophy, Kaikai, Okenabirhie.
