Wolverhampton Wanderers went in a different direction this season after appointing Gary O’Neil as the club’s manager. Even though he was appointed not long before the Premier League season was set to begin, O’Neil has managed to make an impact already at the club. There were some promising performances along the way. Add to it, the club got two positive results in the last two games. They first defeated champions Manchester City before playing out a draw against in-form Aston Villa.

One of the important players in the team’s setup has been a promising young left-back, Rayan Ait-Nouri. He was signed as a 19-year-old from Angers and arrived at Molineux as a player with massive potential. He has done well to establish himself as a regular since arriving at the club. Ait-Nouri is still only 22 years of age but has already become an important part of Wolverhampton Wanderers’ side, especially under Gary O’Neil in this Premier League season.

The young left-back only had good words to describe the new Wolves manager. Speaking about playing under O’Neil, Rayan Ait-Nouri, quoted by the club’s website, said, “I’m very happy. The gaffer has given me confidence and I want to do my best on the pitch to give confidence to the gaffer. I think I need to continue to improve and to develop my football. I’m happy now and I need to continue.”

Rayan Ait-Nouri on new formation

Due to the change in formation under the new manager, Ait-Nouri is playing more like a wing-back. Reacting to it, the 22-year-old full-back said, “We’ve played before like this, five at the back, so I know the position. It’s good because I can attack more. I need to stay focused defensively because I need to progress in this part. I enjoy attacking, shooting, and I have more chance to provide an assist or score.”

He then went on to add about how much he is enjoying life at Wolves. “I’m very happy. I want to give my best for this club. I was very young when I came here and now I have more experience. I’ve had the chance to play in the best league in the world and I think it’s very good. I need to continue this process and progress. I want to give the best of myself in front of the fans and gaffer,” he elaborated.

Switching the attention to the team’s recent good results, Ait-Nouri wants the side to continue with this upward trend. “I was happy with the good atmosphere against City and Aston Villa and taking four points is good. Now we need to continue, and we need to keep going for the next game against Bournemouth. We did a good game against City, but it’s not enough, we need to continue and to enjoy the team. We have a good team, and the atmosphere is very good, and now we need to continue and do our best against Bournemouth,” he stated.
