Sparta Prague’s lone group-win this term came against Aris Limassol back in September. Meanwhile, their last Europa League outing against Rangers ended in a 2-1 defeat on November 9. After that, Iron Sparta recorded back-to-back Czech First League wins over Ostrava and Zlin, scoring three goals and keeping two clean sheets in the process. Brian Priske’s side secured all three points against Zlin at the weekend, courtesy Velijo Birmancevic’s first-half brace. It was their 13th win from 16 league games, and Sparta Prague are currently sitting at the summit of the Czech top flight standings, with 41 points to their name, two clear of the chasing pack.
Betis, on the other hand, are heading into the match on the back of a 13-game unbeaten run across all competitions, recording eight wins in the process. The Greens defeated Aris 4-1 in their last Europa League outing earlier this month, and then followed it up with a draw and victory over Sevilla and Las Palmas respectively in the La Liga. Manuel Pellegrini’s side secured their sixth top flight win of the campaign against Las Palamas on Sunday thanks to Willian Jose’s lone goal inside the opening 19 minutes. El Gloriso are currently occupying seventh spot in the Spanish top flight standings, having taken 24 points from 14 games.
