After a poor start to the campaign, Sevilla sacked head coach Julen Lopetegui earlier this month. The Spaniard’s replacement, Jorge Sampoli, who has returned for a second spell at the club, has made a positive start as Sevilla manager. The Argentine tactician started off with a 1-1 draw against Athletic Bilbao in a La Liga match on October 8 before sharing the spoils against Borussia Dortmund (1-1) in the Champions League three days later. Last time out, Sevillistas Rojiblancos edged past Mallorca courtesy of Nemanja Gudelj’s 53rd-minute strike. It was Sevilla’s second league-win of the campaign,
Valencia, on the other hand, have recorded four wins, two wins and three defeats from nine La Liga games thus far. Last time out against Elche, after falling behind in the 29th minute, veteran striker Edinson Cavani netted a brace to put Valencia ahead. However, Pere Milia’s second of the match in the 65th-minute meant that the points were shared at Mestalla. Prior to that, Gennaro Satuso’s side beat Osasuna 2-1 courtesy of goals from Justin Kluivert and Mouctar Diakhaby. Che will play three more times before the end of the month, following this match with successive home fixtures against Mallorca and Barcelona.
