Real Sociedad vs Espanyol: La Liga Live Stream, Schedule, Fixture and Probable Lineups

Real Sociedad will host Espanyol in a La Liga fixture at Estadio Anoeta on Sunday. The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a Europa League win over Omonia (2-1) on Thursday. Espanyol, meanwhile, suffered a 3-2 defeat to Sevilla in a Spanish top flight match last Saturday. The defeat has left the Catalan outfit sitting at the 14th position in the standings, with four points from five games, while Sociedad are occupying the 11th spot, having collected three points more.

Real Sociedad, who managed to secure an impressive sixth place finish in the La Liga last season, haven’t made a great start to the new season. After completing five rounds of games, the White and Blues have managed to register just two wins and a draw. In their last league match against Getafe, Sociedad suffered a 2-1 loss. The hosts took the lead through Enes Ubnal, on the stroke of half-time, before Carles Alena doubled the lead three minutes into the second half. Although Sociedad pulled one back through Brais Mandez in the 50th-minute, the hosts managed to hold on to the slender lead and secured all three points. 

Espanyol, on the other hand, have recorded just one league victory in their campaign thus far. Against Sevilla, the Periguitos lost the match despite the fact that Joselu and Martin Braithwaite got on the scoresheet. It was the White and Blues’ third league defeat of the season. Prior to that, Espanyol got the better of Athletic Club courtesy of Braithwaite’s lone goal, seven minutes from time.

Probable Lineups

Real Sociedad forward Umar Sadiq is sidelined with a long-term injury, while Mikel Oyarzabak is nursing a knee problem. Sorloth could lead the line with Mendez and Kubo in support. As for Espanyol, Joselu could be the target-man up front with Puado, Darder and Braithwaite in support. Exposito and Souza could pull the strings in the midfield.
