Real Madrid will be aiming to lift their fifth Club World Cup title when they play Saudi Arabia side Al-Hilal in the final at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Morocco on Saturday night. Los Blacnos are heading into the match on the back of a convincing 4-1 win over Egyptian outfit 4-1 in the semi-final on Wednesday, while Al-Hilal got the better of Copa Libertadores champions Flamengo 3-2 to become the first Saudi side to reach the final of the tournament. Real Madrid’s last triumph in this competition was in 2018, when they thrashed Al-Ain (4-1) in UAE to lift a third consecutive title. Luka Modric, Marcus Llorente and Sergio Ramos netted for the La Liga giants at Zayed Sports city Stadium.

Real Madrid are the clear favourites to lift the title in the city of Rabot on Saturday. Although Carlo Ancelotti’s side went into the tournament on the back of a narrow 1-0 defeat to Mallorca in the Spanish top flight, Los Blancos quickly got their acts together to defeat Al Ahly in the mid-week. It took 42 minutes for the Champions League winners to break the deadlock as Vinicius Jr. capitalised on a defensive error, before Federico Valverde doubled the lead immediately after the break. Although Ali Maaloul pulled one back for Al Ahly from the penalty spot, stoppage-time efforts from Rodrygo and Sergio Arribas sealed the win for Los Blancos.

Al-Hilal, on the other hand, defeated Moroccan side Wydad AC 5-3 on penalties in the second round, before getting the better of Brazilian club Flamengo in the semi-final on Tuesday. Two first half penalties converted by Salem Aldawsari either side of a strike from Pedro gave Al-Hilal the lead at the break. But a red card to Gerson on the stroke of half-time turned the contest in the favour of the Blue Waves.Argentina attacker Luciano Vietto’s 70th-minute effort proved to be the winner for Al-Hilal as Pedro completed his brace in the injury time. The 18-time Saudi Pro League champions are competing in the Club World Cup for the the third time, and qualified for this year’s tournament as the reigning AFC Champions League winners.

Probable Lineups

Real Madrid’s injury list consists of Ferland Mendy, Eden Hazard, Lucas Vazquez, while Eder Militia and Thibaut Courtois are doubtful for Saturday’s final. Adriy Lunin could continue in goal depending on Courtois’ fitness. Meanwhile, if Militao returns to the playing eleven, Alaba will shift to left-back position, with Edouardo Camavinga dropping to the bench. Rodrygo, Valverde and Vinicius will form the front-three, with Toni Kroos and Modric pulling the strings in the midfield. As for Al-Hilal, former Manchester United player Odion Ighalo will spearhead the attack, with Aldawsari and Vietto in support.
