Rangers had lost the first leg of their third qualifying round match against Union SG 2-0 and were under pressure to deliver in the second leg at home. Giovanni Van Bronckhorst’s side displayed great fighting spirit to overturn a two goal deficit at the Ibrox Stadium last Tuesday. James Tavernier, Antonio Colak and Malik Tillman netted for the Teddy Bears to secure a 3-2 aggregate victory. And then, last Saturday, Rangers put four goals past St. Johnstone without reply in a domestic league fixture. Tillman and Colak were once again on the scoresheet along with Scott Arfield and Tom Lawrence. Van Bronckhorst’s side have been in superb form off late, scoring nine times and conceding zero in their last three games across all competitions.

PSV, on the other hand, secured a 4-3 aggregate victory over Monaco in the previous round. The first leg in Monaco had ended 1-1, while the second leg at Philips stadium ended 3-2 in favour of the Dutch side courtesy of goals from Joey Veerman, Erick Gutierrez and Luuk de Jong. After that, the Red and whites secured a stunning victory against Go Ahead Eagles in their league fixture. Last Saturday, Xavi Simons netted a brace, while De Jong, Armando Obispo and Veerman scored one goal each at De Adelaarshorst to earn three points.
Rangers defender James Sands missed the victory against St. Johnstone because of illness, but is expected to recover and be available for Tuesday’s game. Last game’s goal-scorer Colak is expected to lead the line with Tillman and Kent providing the support. Tom Lawrence, Scott Arfield and John Lundstram could form the midfield-trio. As for PSV, Noni Madueke, Carlos Vinicius and Yorbe Vertessen are nursing injuries. Former Barcelona-man De Jong is likely to be the target-man up front with Gakpo and Bakayoko occupying the flanks. Attacking midfielder Xavi Simons has made a strong case for himself to start the first leg over Guus Til.
Rangers probable starting lineup: McLaughlin; Tavernier, Goldson, Sands, Barisic, Arfield, Lundstram, Lawrence, Tillman, Colak, Kent
PSV Eindhoven probable starting lineup: Benitez; Mwene, Teze, Obispo, Max, Sangare, Veerman, Bakayoko, Simons, Gakpo, De Jong
