The French outfit, however, couldn’t carry their winning momentum to the domestic circuit, as they were beaten 3-2 at Lorient in a Ligue 1 fixture, three days later. Qarabag FK, meanwhile, are heading into the match on the back of a 4-3 win over Sabah in an Azerbaijan Premier League match last weekend.

Qarabag FK have made a perfect start to their domestic league campaign, winning all of their opening five games so far, to be sitting at the summit of the standings. In their latest match against Sabah, the Horsemen secured all three points courtesy of a brace from Rami Sheydayev and one goal each from Musa Gurbanli and elvin Cafarguliyev. Prior to that, the Blue and whites lost their Europa League match against Freiburg. The German outfit took an early two-goal lead through Vincenzo Grifo and Ritsu Doan, while Marko Vesovic pulled one back for Qarabag FK.
Nantes, on the other hand, secured a dramatic win over Olympiacos last week. The Ligue 1 outfit took the lead through Mostafa Mohamed before Samuel Moutoussamy’s own goal leveled the score. Just when it looked like the points might be shared, Evan Guessan netted a 93rd-minute winner to secure all three points for Nantes. However, the Canaries have been struggling in Ligue 1, having recorded just one win from their opening seven games so far. In their last match against Lorient, the Yellow House suffered a defeat, despite the fact that Ignatius Ganago and Moses Simon go on the scoresheet. It was Nantes’ third Ligue 1 defeat of the season.

Qarabag defender Kevin Medina is sidelined with a leg injury. Kwaben is likely to lead the line with Sheydayev, Kady and Zoubir as support. As for Nantes, Samuel Moutoussamy and Charles Traore are sidelined with injuries. Mohamed could be the target-man up front with Blas, Ganago and Bamba operating behind him.
