Olympiacos will host SC Freiburg in a Group G fixture of the Europa League at Karaiskakis stadium on Thursday. The hosts did not make a great start to the group stage of their European campaign, as they suffered a 2-1 defeat to Nantes last Thursday, while Freiburg secured a 2-1 victory over Qarabag FK on the same day. But the German outfit couldn’t extend their four-game winning run across all competitions, as they were held to a goalless draw by Borussia Monchengladbach in a Bundesliga fixture last Sunday. While Olympiacos are heading into the match on the back of a 1-1 draw against Volos in a Greece Super League match last weekend.

Olympiacos shared the spoils against Volos after Youssef El-Arabi had canceled out Ognjen Ozegovic’s opener. The result helped the Red-Whites to move to eight points from their opening four league games, just four points behind leaders Panathinaikos. Meanwhile, the Legends failed to get anything from their trip to Stade de La Beaujoire last week. Nantes took the lead through Mostafa Mohammed before Samuel Moutoussamy’s own goal leveled the score. Just when it looked like the game might be heading into a draw, Evan Guessand netted a 93rd-minute minute winner for the hosts.
Freiburg, on the other hand, got the better of Qarabag courtesy of first half goals from Vincenzo Grifo and Ritsu Doan. Although the visitors pulled one back through Marko Vesovic, the German outfit held on to the slender lead and secured all three points. And then, Breisgau-Brasilianer played out an entertaining 0-0 draw against Monchengladbach last sunday. Freiburg have made an impressive start to their Bundesliga campaign, winning four of their opening six games, to be sitting at the second position, with 13 points, just one behind leaders Union Berlin.

Nils Petersen could be the target-man up front with Doan, Jeong and Grigo operating around him.

Freiburg probable starting lineup: Flekken, Kubler, Lienhart, Gulde, Gunter, Eggestein, Keitel, Doan, Jeong, Grifo, Petersen
