PSV Eindhoven will host FC Zurich in a UEFA Europa League fixture at Philips stadion on Thursday night. The reverse fixture between these two sides last week ended 5-1 in favour of PSV courtesy of a brace from Yorbe Vertessen and Cody Gakpo, and one goal from Xavi Simons. The result helped the Dutch outfit to move to second position in Group A, having collected four points from two games, two points below leaders Arsenal. Zurich, meanwhile, are languishing at the bottom of the table, yet to open their account.

PSV are heading into the match on the back of a narrow 1-0 win over Heerenveen in an Eredivisie fixture last Sunday. Cody Gakpo’s 75th-minute strike separated the two sides at Abe Lenstra Stadion. The result helped the Red and Whites move to third position in the Dutch top flight standings, having collected 21 points from nine games, two points adrift of leaders AZ Alkmaar. Meanwhile, the Lightbulbs started off their Europa League campaign with 1-1 draw against Bodo/Glimt before getting the better of Feyenoord 4-3, and then thrashed FC Zurich.
FC Zurich, on the other hand, have lost all of their three Europa League games thus far, against the likes of Arsenal (2-1), Bodo/Glimt (2-1) and PSV. Meanwhile, in the domestic circuit, FCZ are languishing at the bottom of the Swiss Super League table, having pocketed just four points from their opening 10 games. Last time out, Bo Henriksen’s side shared the spoils against Winterthur.

PSV midfielders Yorbe Vertessen and Osmael Saibari came off injured against Heerenveen, making them major doubts for this one. Meanwhile Noni Madueke is sidelined with an ankle injury and Olivier Boscagle is ruled out because of a knee injury. As for Zurich, Ilan Sauter in the medical room along with Becir Omeragic and Miguel Reichmuth.
