Peterborough were demoted to the third tier of English football in May after finishing second from the bottom in last season’s Championship. The visitors, meanwhile, finished at the sixth spot in the last edition of the Championship and lost the semi-final playoff to Huddersfield.

The Posh began their pre-season with a 3-0 win over Leyton Orient before sharing the spoils against Stevenage in their recent outing. Grant McCann’s side are winless in their pre-season friendlies so far, and are desperate to get a morale boosting victory. In order to freshen up the squad and fight for promotion, the Posh have made some new additions, signing Lucas Bergstrom and Harvey Cartwright. McCann’s side will also take on Scunthorpe and Hull City before beginning their new Football League One season against Cheltenham on July 30.
Luton , on the other hand, began their pre-season with a 3-0 win over Hitchin Town, getting the better of Northampton Town last Saturday. The Hatters will also play West Ham United before beginning their new Championship campaign against Birmingham on July 30. Nathan Jones side started their preparations for the new season with a week long training camp in Slovenia, followed by behind closed doors win over Gillingham. The Hatters have made a couple of new signings, bringing in Barnsley duo Carlton Morris and Cauley Woodrow.

Peterborough head coach McCann is likely to rotate the squad heavily in order to build the fitness of the team. Clarke-Harris is likely to lead the attack alongside Szmodics. Taylor and Jones could pull the strings in the midfield with Ajiboye and Fuchs operating down the flanks. As for Luton, last game’s goal-scorers Danny Hylton and Elijah Adebayo are likely to retain their place in the playing eleven. Lockyer, Bradley and Potts could form the three-man defence.
