PSG’s last two Champions League games against Benfica ended in 1-1 draws. The latest encounter against the Portuguese outfit, last Tuesday, was a tale of two penalties. Kylian Mbappe put the hosts ahead inside the opening 39 minutes before Joao Mario equalised for Benfica to share the points. Christopher Galtier’s side have a five point lead over third-placed Juventus and a victory on Tuesday would ensure passage to the last-16 of the competition. Meanwhile, last time out, Mbappe netted a double and Lionel Messi scored once to help PSG secure a league-win against Ajaccio.
Maccabi Haifa, on the other hand, got the better of H. Kiryat Shmona in a five-goal thriller in an Israeli Premier League fixture on Saturday. Frantzdy Pierrot, Tjaronn Chery and Dylan Batubinsika netted for the Greens at the Kiryat Shmona Municipal Stadium to take all three points and take their tally to 21 from nine games, at the summit of the standings. Meanwhile, Maccabi Haifa’s lone Champions League group stage victory of the season came against Serie A giants Juventus (2-0) on October 11 courtesy of a brace from Omer Atzili. The reverse fixture against PSG in Haifa in September ended 3-1 in favour of the French outfit.
PSG midfielder Marco Verratti is suspended for Tuesday’s game, while the likes of Presnel Kimpembe, Nuno Mendes and Danilo Pereira are sidelined with injuries. Fabian Ruiz is likely to partner Vitinha in the engine room with Neymar, Messi and Mbape forming the front-three. As for Maccabi Haifa, winger Suf Podogoreanu is nursing an achilles injury. Meanwhile, Doel Haziza and Mahmoud Jaber are also occupying the medical room. Pierrot is expected to spearhead the attack, with Atzili, Chery and David in support.
PSG probable starting lineup: Donnarumma, Mukiele, Marquinhos, Ramos, Hakimi, Vitinha, Ruiz, Bernat, Messi, Mbappe, Neymar
Maccabi Haifa probable starting lineup: Cohen, Sundgren, Batubinisika, Goldberg, Cornud, Mohamed, Lavi, Atzili, chery, David, Pierrot
