Panama will square off against El Salvador in a Gold Cup fixture at PNC stadium on Tuesday night. The Panamanians are heading into their final Group C-fixture on the back of a 2-1 win over Martinique on Friday, while La Selecta played out a goalless draw against Costa Rica. The victory helped the Canal Men to seal their place in the knockout stages of the continental competition, having collected a maximum of six points from two matches. The ES, meanwhile, have taken just a solitary point from their two outings, level on points and goal-difference with Costa Rica, and two points adrift of second-placed Martinique.

Panama kicked off their Gold Cup campaign with a comprehensive 2-1 win over Costa Rica on June 26 thanks to goals from Jose Fajardo and Edgar Herrera. Four days later, the Canal Men secured an identical victory over Martinique, once gain thanks to Jose Fajardo’s opener, while Michael Amir Murillo’s 69th-minute effort proved to be the winner at Red Bull Arena as La Selecta pulled one back through Karl Fabian in the injury time. The victory helped Los Canaleros to seal their place in the last eight. Thomas Christiansen’s men have been dominant in their two wins, having the major share of ball possession and recording a combined total of 31 attempts on goal, with 15 of them on target. Meanwhile, Panama will be looking to avoid Mexico in the quarter-finals, which means they would need a single point from Tuesday’s fixture to secure top spot in Group C.
El Salvador were beaten 2-1 by Martinique in their opening match of this competition, courtesy of first-half goals from Patrick Burner and Kevin Fortune, while Bryan Tamacas scored a consolation goal for La Selecta five minutes into the injury time. And then, on Friday, La Azul y Blanco shared the spoils against Costa Rica. Therefore, the Salvadorians now not only need to win this match, but Les Matinino must lose or draw against Costa Rica, though if the latter occurs, La Selecta would need to register at least a two-goal victory in this upcoming fixture to advance to the knockout stage.
Panama probable starting lineup: Mosquera, Escobar, Cummings, Andrade, Murillo, Carrasquilla, Godoy, Davis, Waterman, Barcenas, Fajardo
El Salvador probable starting lineup: Gonzalez, Tamacas, Zavaleta, Cabalceta, Roldan, Henriquez, Martinez, Orellana, Reyes, Osorio, C. Gil
