Norwich City will be looking to extend their unbeaten start to the 2023-24 campaign when they host Millwall in an EFL Championship fixture at Carrow Road on Sunday afternoon. The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a narrow 1-0 win away to Queen Park Rangers in the EFL Cup tie in the mid-week, while the Lions suffered a 1-0 league-defeat against Bristol City last weekend. Norwich began their new campaign with a thrilling 2-1 Championship-win against Hull City on August 5 thanks to Jonathan Rowe’s equalsier and a Adam Idah’s dramatic winner five minutes into the injury time. A week later, the Canaries played out mouth-watering eight-goal draw against the newly-relegated Southampton. David Wagner’s side then travelled to Loftus Road for the EFL Cup first round fixture and got the better of QPR courtesy of Jonathan Rowe’s lone goal nine minutes into the injury time. Remarkably, four of Norwich’s seven goals across all competitions this season have come in the closing seconds of either half, something their opponents will be wary of ahead of this encounter.
Millwall, on the other hand, kicked of their season with a 1-0 second tier -victory over Middlesbrough early in August, but then suffered back to back defeats against Reading (4-0) and Bristol City (1-0) in the EFL Cup and Championship fixtures respectively. Bristol City midfielder Matty James’s lone goal four minutes into the injury time handed the Lions their first league-defeat of the season last Saturday, and they will be hoping to bounce back against the Canaries on Sunday. With just one goal scored and five goals conceded from three games in all competitions so far, Gary Rowett has plenty of problems to solve in both the the attack and defence, ahead of their trip to Carrow Road.
Norwich City probable starting lineup: Gunn, Stacey, Duffy, Gibson, Giannoulis, Rowe, McLean, Hernandez, Sara, Barnes, Sargent
Millwall probable starting lineup: Sarkic, Hutchinson, Cooper, Wallace, McNamara, Saville, Mitchell, Bryan, Flemming, Bradshaw, Watmore
