Both Montenegro and Serbia will be looking to continue their winning start to the UEFA Euro 2024 qualifying campaign when they lock horns at Podgorica City Stadium on Monday night. The Eagles are currently sitting at the top of the standings, with three points to their name, level with second-place Montenegro, but separated by goal-difference. The two nations have faced each other only two times before, in the UEFA Nations League back in 2018, and both the games ended in favour of Serbia.

Montenegro got the better of Bulgaria courtesy of Nikola Krostovic’s lone goal 20 minutes from time. Despite having just 38% of ball possession, Miodrag Radulovic’s side created 15 goal-scoring chances and recorded six shots on target, compared to just three for Bulgaria. It was their first win since going four games without a victory in all competitions. The Brave Falcons have never qualified for the finals of a major tournament and will be bidding give a good account of themselves in the Euro 2024 qualifying campaign.
Serbia on the other hand, qualified for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar but couldn’t progress beyond the group-stage. The Eagles started their quest for a place in the finals of the Continental competition in Germany with a comfortable win over Lithuania on Friday. Dragon Stojkovic’s side netted two times without reply at Red Star Stadium courtesy of Dusan Tadic’s effort inside the opening 16 minutes and Dusan Vlahovic’s 53rd-minute strike. Serbia have not been present in any of the last four European Championships but this around, they will fancy their chances of qualifying from a group consisting of Hungary, Bulgaria, Lithuania and Montenegro.
