After a 11 game unbeaten streak across all competitions, Blackburn were beaten beaten Stoke City in the league on Saturday. Ki-Jan However’s first-half brace and a 75th-minute effort from Tyrese Campbell gave a 3-0 lead to Stoke, before the Riversiders netted twice in the final five minutes through Ben Brereton Diaz and Sam Gallagher. It was the Rovers’ 14th league-defeat of the season, while they have managed to record 18 second tier victories this season so far. Meanwhile, on a positive note, Jon Dahl Tomasson’s side have collected 13 points from their most recent five home-matches.
Reading, on the other hand, have the second-worst away record in the Championship this term, collecting just 11 points from 18 games on their travels. Since the 3-1 win over Blackpool at home, courtesy of Tom Ince’s brace and one goal from Andy Carroll, the Royals have gone on a three-game losing streak. Their latest outing against Millwall ended in a 1-0 loss, courtesy of Andreas Vogslammer’s lone goal from the penalty spot, inside the opening 11 minutes. Although Paul Ince’s side remain 12 points clear of the relegation zone, they need to end the losing streak as the club could face a potential points penalty in the future. Meanwhile, on a positive note, the Royals have triumphed against Blackburn in four of the last five encounters, that includes the reverse fixture in August which ended 3-0, thanks to goals from Tom McIntyre, Junior Hoilett and Lucas Joao.
