Millwall’s Championship season got off to a decent start, pocketing six points from their opening three games courtesy of victories over Stoke City and Coventry City either side of a defeat to sheffield United. And then, the Lions failed to record a win in their following four games against Swansea City (2-2), Norwich City (2-0), Reading (1-0) and Burnley (2-0). In their recent outing against the Clarets, goals from Vitinho and Jay Rodriguez handed a fourth defeat of the season to Millwall.
Cardiff, on the other hand, had an identical start to that of their Saturday’s opponents in England’s second tier, collecting six points from three games, defeating Norwich City (1-0) before losing to Reading (2-1) and then defeating Birmingham City (1-0). Steve Morison’s side then failed to put another win on board in four matches since. In their last match at home against Luton Town, the visitors took the lead through Luke Freeman before Gabriel Osho doubled the lead two minutes after the hour-mark. Although Cardiff pulled one back through Romaine Sawyers, the visitors held on to the slender lead and secured all three points. .
Millwall players Ryan Leonard and Mason Bennett are likely to be unavailable for Saturday’s game, Hutchinson, Cooper and Wallace are likely to form the back-three with Saville and Mitchell sitting in front of them, Afobe is likely to be the target-man with Burey and Voglsammer in support. As for Cardiff City, central defender Curtis Nelson is sidelined with a knee injury, therefore Perry Ng and Cedric Kipre could partner in the heart of the back-four. Romaine Sawyers is expected to join Ralls and Wintle in the middle of the park.
Millwall probable starting lineup: Bialkowski, Hutchinson, Cooper, Wallace, McNamara, Saville, Mitchell, Malone, Voglsammer, Burey, Afobe
Cardiff City probable starting lineup: Allsop, Romeo, Ng, Kipre, Nkounkou, Sawyers, Ralls, Wintle, Ojo, Watters, Philogene-Bidace
