Millwall will be bidding to make it back-to-back wins in the EFL Championship when they host Birmingham City at the Den on Tuesday night. The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a convincing 2-0 win over Preston North End on Saturday, while Birmingham suffered a 2-1 defeat away to Sunderland. The victory helped the Lions to move to fifth spot in the English second tier standings, having collected 65 points from 42 games, just three points clear of seventh-placed Coventry City. The visitors, meanwhile, are sitting at the 17th position, with 50 points to their name, eight points away from the relegation zone.

Millwall secured all thee points against Preston thanks to two unanswered goals from Tom Bradshaw and Zian Flemming. It was the Lions’ 18th second-tier victory of the season and the result ended their four game winless streak, that included two defeats. Gary Rowett’s side have been solid at the back, having kept three clean sheets in their last four outings. Meanwhile, Millwall have a pretty good home-record in the second tier this term, having collected 39 points from 21 matches at the Den.

Birmingham, on the other hand, have won just six of their 21 league-games on the road this season. On Saturday, the Blues suffered their 18th second tier defeat of the season away to Sunderland despite taking the lead through George Hall’s 29th-minute effort. The result ended their four-game unbeaten streak. Birmingham have won 13 of their 42 Championship-games this campaign and their most recent success came against sixth-placed Blackburn Rovers, at the start of this month, thanks to Reda Khadra’s lone goal on the hour-mark. The Blues look all but safe from relegation to League One, having secured an eight-point lead over 22nd-placed Reading, with just 12 points left to play.
